400 Fest | Brickyard, Indy 500 | Indianapolis, IN | July 21-22

This was an interesting one. I had never heard of 400 Fest before, the only reason it popped up on my radar was because of Pretty Lights and Mac Miller. With it being so close to home I had to get tickets. I bought two and ended up bringing Lindsey along for the ride. The place we stayed this time was much better than where we stayed in Chicago, kind of far from the venue though.

So anyway, we get to the Indy 500 Motor Speedway, and I’ve never been here before and I’m like, WHOLY SHIT THIS PLACE IS HUGE!!!! I never realized how big that place was, and when we were walking in I was so excited, I was thinking dam this is gonna be a huge event/venue right? NOPE. They made us walk the whole way across to the other side and tucked us back in this lil corner and I’m just shaking my head thinking of all the wasted potential! They could have a huge festival in that place, using the whole area and make it really cool, but they just have this one stage back in the corner, I digress.

The music was on point though, what else do you expect from Pretty Lights and Mac Miller. Chainsmokers finished, there alright, I like a few of there songs, but not really for me, I Thought Pretty Lights should have closed, but it was very apparent that I was the only one that thought that.

The crowd wasn’t really felling pretty lights it seemed like, no one in the crowd other than me was moving it seemed like, I was calling them all crazy in my head, especially when the chainsmokers came on and everyone when nuts.. so it clearly wasn’t his crowd, and most were there for chainsmokers, I guess lol. We saw Cheat Codes and that was the first time I saw them live and I was feeling them a lot, I had heard a few of their songs before but after hearing their set I’m for sure a fan. Major Lazor was there as well, he killed his set and had some dope ass visuals!! DNCE was there and that was also my first time seeing them, they put on a good show, you should check em out.

So overall the music was on point, the crowd was weak, the venue had potential but was not utilized properly in my opinion, also there was like a circle of 10 cops every other 50 feet, no joke, it was the most cops I had seen in my life in one place, it was very locked down. I had heard some talk of a lot of under covers being there, so overall it was a sketchy vibe, but still had to blaze to Mac Miller lol.

We went to the Art Museum as well which was really cool, if you have never been there you should check it out there are some amazing pieces in that building. And the surrounding area, is simply beautiful, with gardens, fountains, paths, and trails you can walk through, its a great place to take pictures. The food they offer isn’t half bad either.
