Just A Few Days in New Smyrna Beach, FL

I have always loved Florida, it is such a beautiful and relaxing state, it has a very unique atmosphere mixed with all sorts of demographics. I feel like Florida gets a bad rep for being all old people, although that statement is ALMOST true there is an abundance of nightlife and youth that I found quite refreshing.

My Mother has a house down in New Smyrna Beach and asked me if I wanted to go down with her, due to me switching jobs I had the freedom to go. I had not been to this house since I was a little kid so I was excited to see everything and see if I remembered anything.

I took a cheap Allegiant Flight out of Fort Wayne, IN, Allegiant always has good prices but sometimes their planes are kind of cramped. I was sitting with a 30-Something-year-old and his daughter, they were cool people, talked just a little then I was out within minutes until we landed.

My Grandpa picked me up from the airport and drove me back to his and my Grandma’s house. They live in Venetian Bay, it is a beautiful and huge residential complex accompanied by a local pool and strip of shops including, A Happy Deli, which is to die for, I highly recommend it. Me and my Grandparents had a bite to eat their before we headed out to pick my mother up from the airport.

Once we got my Mom we headed back to the house in New Smyrna Beach. Immediately upon seeing the house I was flooded with many memories from my childhood, memories of me and my sister and brother chasing lizards and hoping to see crocodiles, it was nice to see those memories that are often not thought of.

The first day we got there the weather was not great but it was a heck of a lot better than what it was in Indiana, so I wasn’t complaining. We walked down the beach and I got in the water, there’s nothing more relaxing than a beach, but I don’t have to tell you. I loved every second of it, I wish we could have stayed longer so I could still be enjoying it, lol.

We ate out at a lot of places so I could get a taste of everything. The First day we ate at JB’s Fish Camp and I tried Alligator for the first time, and let me just say it was so delicious, if you’ve never had it I would highly recommend it and if your in the New Syrmna Beach area you should get your Alligator from JB’s.

We also stopped in at Norwoods Treehouse, which is my favorite spot hands down. They serve amazing food and the bar upstairs is a Tree House and its so freaking cool. The prices for the drinks weren’t bad either, and she made the long island pretty stiff, lol. Hands down I would recommend this spot to anyone in the area. A very popular spot that I walked through but did not eat at was, The Garlic, next visit I am for sure stopping in for a bite at this one of a kind location, I can’t even describe it but it was very cool, and would be the perfect romantic date for anyone.

SpaceX was launching a rocket while I was down there and we were all so excited to see it go off, I was trying to go to the viewing platforms at the Kennedy Space Center but no one else was down, what a shame, lol. It didn’t matter anyway as they delayed the launch until the next day. So the next day came and we went shopping, we totally forgot about the launch and we were in a surf shop when it went off. I was disappointed but didn’t care too much, the only way I thought it would be cool to see is if we went to the viewing platforms.

We stopped at the Canaveral National Seashore which was a cool national park, they had the biggest seashell mound there and we walked to the top, the view up there was stunning. It was nice being able to stamp another national park in my National Park Passport book, if your like visiting national parks I would recommend getting one, their pretty cool.

All-in-all, my trip to New Smyrna Beach was a successful one, I had a lot of fun with my mom and aunt as well as my Grandparents. We a had a lot of laughs and even more good food. I cant wait to head back.
