Rating: 3 out of 5.I did not want to be writing a negative review on this show. I was ready to add it to the list of the greats, up there with sopranos, the wire, and breaking bad.
BUT
I cant help but feel disappointed after finishing the series. This seemed like a season finale to me, certainly not a series finale. If they wanted to go this route, they should have ended the show right when we see the broken glass, cut that last 2-3 mins out.
This show got off to such a strong start that sucked us all in the from the very first moments. The first few seasons were epic and something special. But it soon got repetitive in more ways than one and the stakes were lost. I’ve seen some say it should have been 5 seasons to be more fleshed out. I think this show could have been 2-3 seasons honestly.
Someone said it seems like the kids are written solely as an inconvenience to the parents. Which is totally true, but also pretty true to real life lmao, moving on…
A Lot of Dead People In The Ozarks
After such an epic start, that ending seemed anti-climatic to me, I guess it was due to my expectation of them all dying, so perhaps that ones on me.
Although I loved Ruth, her dying was one of the best parts of the ending. Maybe I’m just a sucker for tragic endings but In my mind, I wanted everyone to die lol. Since they didn’t, that makes Ruth’s death just piss you off more lol.
But as it is now I’m left wondering how Jonah is affected from killing a man? How the kids react to Ruth’s death and if they blame the parents? If Camelia kills Claire or the Byrd’s? Just seemed like a season finale to me and not the end to their story.
I just want more I guess lol. So technically that means it was good, but again, a series finale shouldn’t leave you wanting more. It should leave you feeling content and satisfied of a journey well fulfilled.
Maybe its just me, my curious mind cant have the story stop before we get all the details, perhaps that’s why all my favorite endings, such as the departed, are ones in which everyone dies. It gives some finality to the story lol, I don’t have to worry about, “yeah but what did he do after that?”
Maybe I just needed to see Wendy suffer even a little, crying for the bro she killed didn’t count lol, that’s why I’m really upset.
